Jamaica- The Palms

100_0021

What is it about palm trees that scream tropical paradise?  I had them in my neighborhood in Modesto and loved them…  even though they made me want to be at a beach somewhere.  As I am looking through my photos from our trip I noticed what key role these things had in our views.  They were everywhere….EXCEPT in the natural landscape.  Ha!  Dave and I got a good laugh and a sigh when we realized our tropical paradise was a bit fake.  You see MOST of the island of Jamaica doesn’t have Palms, it looks like this…

Still pretty, but something about being surrounded by the “fake scenery” seemed so much more tropical and relaxing.

Jamaican Sunrise and Sunset

If you know me, you know I LOVE the way the sunrises and sunsets.  It is a simple, beautiful, moment that only ever happens once.  We woke up at 5:30, yes that early! to watch the sunrise… and it seemed extra early because we had slept in late almost every day! But it was worth it.  I LOVE these quiet moments in the morning, being the only one on the beach, and just enjoying God’s painting.

I had a bit more energy than my husband…

Being the only ones on the beach allows me to do this….

During the sunrise I turned around and saw the moon still out in all its glory…DSC_0178DSC_0186

The camera can never fully capture its beauty…

We also tried to capture some sunsets, but of course they were a little bit harder to get.  My favorite of all the sunsets was when we were playing tennis and didn’t have our camera.  The sky was so distracting, I was WAY off my game… okay, my game is rarely there, but still, it wasn’t a bad way to loose a game. (Okay honest side note, we really didn’t play a true game because of all the hug rain puddles on the court, but a lot of the tennis balls ended up on my side… or in the back corner of Dave’s side. I swear at one point I was on a tennis team no wonder it was short lived.)

Jamaica- Dunn’s River Falls

We had a great time hiking the falls.  It was pouring rain that day, so why not get soaking wet in a fun way!? The scenery was gorgeous, the rocks slippery, the company a little crazy, but we made it and loved it!

Here is what we captured with our waterproof camera:
