Being a Mommy

The amazing whirlwind called "motherhood" has begun!! What a miracle life is. As I sit here trying to put my thoughts together my sweet Anna is laying in my lap, wide eyed, but slowly falling asleep. It has taken me a few days to blog because I find that sitting here for hours on end looking into her beautiful face is more appealing than anything else in this world. I feel more blessed at this moment than any word can describe. Here are a few of thoughts that continually flow through me each day.

*I feel overwhelmed by the Love of my Heavenly AND Earthly parents- I am starting to understand a small piece of the incredible unconditional love a mother has. My mom has been my hero over the last week. She was there for me every day last week and continues to provide so much support. I don't know how I would have made it through the last week without her advice, care, and love.

*My eyes fill with tears as I think of Anna and the responsibility that God has entrusted to me to raise this choice daughter. I have constantly thought of the first moment I held her; what an incredible moment. I am amazed at what we have already been through together and anticipate, with excitement, what is to come.

*An increased appreciation for my sweet husband and his love for me and Anna. He is a natural daddy who can stop his daughter's crying better than anyone. I love hearing him say.. "she is so beautiful, precious, sweet, perfect... she is my daughter." We are a Family!

*Generosity and Support from those around me- it is overwhelming how many people love me and are willing and excited to help. We have had many meals brought in, phone calls, emails, blog comments, etc. I feel so lucky- thank you to everyone.

*The unknown plan that Heavenly Father has for me of which I struggle trying to figure out, but realize there is meaning in everything... even high blood pressure.

*Healthy bodies... I honestly have been doing too much post -birth because I have been thrilled to have energy back and be able to at least stand up for a little bit. Though I have to constantly remind myself that I did just go through labor and I need to take it easy.

*Sleep.
*The Gospel. Prayer. The spirit that a baby brings into the home. Our dear Prophet, Pres. Hinckley. I will miss his tenderness, example, words of wisdom, and energy.

*A warm home.

* A good puppy who seems to understand how special Anna is.

*Love. Quiet. Good food. Baths. Snow (especially when I don't have to drive in it). Boppies. Soft Blankets. Digital cameras. Billi beds.

Oh, my list of things could go on and on. I feel so overwhelmingly happy! LIFE IS AMAZING!!!

Heidi, you are a wonderful mother and Anna is so blessed to have you and Dave as her parents. Enjoy every minutes of looking into her beautiful eyes and watching them twinkle back at you. I wish there was a way to capture those moments.

hey i wanted to call, but i figured i'd give you a few more days of life in bliss before interupting. but i did want to tell you that James (my brother) does a photography business on the side and he does a great job with little ones. his website is on my blog, just in case you want to check it out. (i know all his prices are per job, so if you are interested, just call him) i had him do a bunch of pics of Berit for me, and they turned out great. so not trying to push, just offering.

Anna really is so sweet. It's surreal isn't it. fun, exhausting, incredible. enjoy it. they really do grow SO fast. i didn't believe it until i blinked and Berit was 10 months old. Wierd!!

Isn't it wonderful how you can just spend hours loving and holding a baby. It really is wonderful. Becoming a mother is a total paradigm shift- you never look at things in the same way again. It truly is incredible. Love you guys. Give that baby an extra smooch from auntie maggie.

Heids- I loved those sweet comments. It is indescribable the amount of love you have for your baby and how you would do anything thing for them. You are such an amazing mom - I can tell. Anna is lucky to have you and Dave. And, she is so beautiful by the way. I have been thinking about your story with the whole blood pressure and everything, and Anna truly is a miracle, it is truly amazing the ways the Lord works. Good luck with everything. I totally overdid right after Lance (well, given the fact we moved states 3 weeks later didn't give me much choice), but dang - isn't it AMAZING how much better you feel once your baby comes out. I loved just bending down and touching my toes. The simple pleasures of having at least part of your body back! Great pictures - you guys look so happy!

Heidi and Dave Congrats!! It's Melanie Buma. Anna is darn right gorgeous. I know what you mean about having such a tiny baby and also your mom. I feel the same way about mine but after your mom helped with my delivery I am lovin her too. Where did you get that adorable headband? I couldn't ever find one tiny enough to fit Tenley.
