This is Heidi, and I have a confession. I just found out that an experience from my past will live on....as long as choir tour at Olympus High happens. No, I never really broke rules in high school. I only "sluffed" one time, and besides being late for curfew I think I pretty much stuck to the rules. Except on Tour.
Let me set the scene. I was a junior in "highlights," the girl singing group. We went on tour with vocal ensemble and the whole concert choir (about 100 students). We traveled by bus down to California to perform in Disneyland. I was on the all girl bus and my boyfriend of 3 or 4 months, "Chicks Dig Miner" was on the ensemble bus. We were excited to go on a trip together with all of our friends. Before we left for tour we signed papers and heard rules about boys and girls not going into each other's rooms "or else."
Well. From many photos I have seen not many people stuck to this rule, but rarely got caught. Me on the other hand, I went up with a friend, Bonnijane, to visit my cute tour romance"TR" (no not really, I DID end up marrying him) and the boys up stairs for a moment, literally. Unfortunately Mr. Williams saw us and we were caught! Bonnijane and I said we were just delivering an Easter basket (I don't remember if that was true or not), but that did not suffice. We were told we could not go to Disneyland for the first 3 hours. Our friend Sita, also joined us because he threw a table off a cruise ship. Now first of all, who throws a table and gets away with the SAME punishment as two sweet girls? RIDICULOUS.
So, we missed a few rides, but now I hear that they are still threatening the high school students today with the story of "the girl who missed three hours of Disneyland for sneaking to a boy's room." My sister was lucky enough this year to say "that was my sister!" ha ha ha.
So, I am the unnamed famous "tour rule breaker" at Olympus High School. What a great title.
Oh, and one side note. Mr. Williams happened to be the same man who interviewed Dave for his mission and set him apart. I think he forgave us, though it was awkward. He was nice enough to let me hug Dave with the rest of the family after Dave was set apart as a missionary.
LOVE IT.

Ha ha ha! You little devil, Heidi! That's too funny. I think we were a lot alike in high school. I don't think I ever really broke a rule either. I did get a little wild one time and drove on the driving range while driver's ed was in session. I know, I know, crazy, eh? Thanks for the story. I enjoyed it!!
Heidi, this is a burden you have carried for more than ten years, and I want you to know how proud I am of you for confessing your transgressions. True, you have tarnished your reputation for the rest of your earthly existence, but let's be honest - for Chicks Dig, it was totally worth it!
And hey, being a legend of sorts has its perks, right?
Oh, Heidi...tsk, tsk :)
I LOVE Tour! I especially love that we called them TR's and that your legend lives on!!
Oh the scandelous crimes committed on tour! Haha...I love it! I also love the pics of you and Dave. You two are so cute together.
My little bro went on tour this year. Unfortunately he is in Ensemble and had to be on Belnap's bus. She has cracked down this year. He missed class one day before tour (probably ditched) and she split up the guys in his room! Haha! He was so mad and I just laughed. I did recommend that he and his friends get that glow in the dark body paint. Who did that? That was funny! She has all of their cell phone numbers. I am glad I did not own a cell phone when I was in VE. That would have been horrible!
Chicks do dig Miner though. That was a fun year on tour.
I love it Heidi! I hope Dave appreciated the sacrafice you made to go and see him!! I think he owes you:)
That is the FUNNIEST story! You're infamous!
Richard and I also went on a band/orchestra trip to Canada in high school. Apparently the principal was notified by the hotel manager that there was a disturbance in the night. It was actually Richard playing 'When I fall in love' to me on his trumpet from his balcony while I stood on my own balcony. Haha, luckily we didn't get in trouble like you!
Anyways, thank you sooooo much for being such nice hosts. We can't wait to move to Ann Arbor. Yay!
Yeah, I remember this - you forgot to mention your stalwart roomie who tried to cover for you when Mr. WIlliams burst in our room before going up to get you -demanding me to disclose your whereabouts. I told him I "thought" you were in the bathroom, but unfortunately after about 4 min he got tired of waiting and we both knew you were not coming out. You are totally infamous! and don't paint yourself as innocent, this is the same girl who slept through rehearsals in NYC with Spevechek.
ha, i totally remember that! and unless my memory deceives me, i was the fourth roommate that year. but as i recall, i was WAY too well-behaved to sneak out. yes indeedy, i would NEVER make a questionable choice on choir tour. :)
I was just thinking about choir tour this week. I was actually thinking about the toilet paper bunny craft we made in our room (must have been senior year- way ugly). I had forgotten that story but "it's all coming back, it's all coming back to me now." I love you guys. And seriously, I can't believe that Sita got the same punishment. That's one of those stories that makes me miss high school and hate it at the same time.
Dave and Heidi, that is hilarious! So Erin and I finally decided to get blogging, and Erin went to your page from Alan & Whitney's page, only to read this tour memory and see how stupid I looked back in high school (has it changed?).
I still remember going into Disneyland and seeing you all seated outside, sitting apart. Being Belnap's lap dog, I probably had to sit there and hear her lecture you on appropriate behavior, etc.
But I loved tour, and those were great times.
