Is blog commenting dead???

If you check my blog right now, read this and comment.... if you wish :)

I made it a goal at the beginning of the year that if I was going to be blogging I needed to leave comments. That way people who I like to check up on would know, I am not such a "blog stalker," and that way I could only check blogs if I had enough time to comment... so as to not take up my evening in blogging.

I did really well for the first few months or so. I am not 100% now, but mostly I leave a comment. It is fun to see conversations people have a a great way to keep connected.

I love it when people comment because it reminds me to check their blogs and lets me see who is out there reading my personal life. Now I see that 22 people have checked our blog since last night and there are NO comments. (Some of you are from NJ and Bakersfield, CA and I have no idea who you are...)

Not that I NEED a comment on every post. Nor do I need one to feel good about myself or posting (because honestly this blog is for me), but I challenge people to make a comment every now and again on whatever blog you are on. It makes it a little more interesting!!!

I love the blogging world because it is a great way to keep connected. Let's not be lazy and just read it like we do the paper and try harder to actually keep those connections that have drawn us to each other's blog in the first place.

There I said my piece.

What are your thoughts? Am I the only one who feels this way? Why DON'T you leave comments on blogs?

Comment! ha ha... the one from Colorado stalking your blog, that's me!!!

Honestly, though, mostly I use my google reader, and it doesn't take me directly to a blog, just lets me read the latest post. so to comment takes way too many steps. :) I will be better now, though.

From you A2 stalker. I usually do google reader too, it is not conducive to commenting. Also, I am an awkward commenter. I never know what to say. But I read every post.

I am just lazy I guess. And I read your blog religiously, not only for your posts, but also to see your cute lil' Anna. But I'm here! And I do agree-people should let you know they're reading!

This is interesting because last night when I was reading your latest thoughts...I thought to myself. I haven't commented on her blog in awhile. I should. I guess I didn't follow through!

I love reading your blog. I can't believe that you are so far along and the baby girl is coming soon!!

I will try and be better!! I really want to stay connected.

I am offended and am never going to comment again. OK, maybe I will, but only because if I don't I'll have to sleep on the couch. :)

I agree on this. I think people should comment as well but I'm a little guilty of not commenting. When I'm on the computer I am usually holding baby in one arm and am just too lazy to type with one hand.

Hey it looks like your post worked! Haha, I was planning on commenting on yours anyways though I promised, because you had just made a really sweet comment on ours!

We miss you guys so much here- the other day I was driving near where you lived and I had to remind myself you weren't there anymore. The fall here is wonderful and we are loving it! Aw no raspberry picking with you this year :( But I will pick apples and make applesauce again- yum! How are you feeling? Are you nesting yet? Do you feel ready? I can't believe we are so close- ah!!

DC stalker right here! Okay so here's what happens. I have 8 minutes on the computer. I have the blogs I love bookmarked and run through them to see what's new. Just when I am about to comment, I hear a loud, unexpected noise and the words "uh-oh". Then it's off to my next activity, probably cleaning something. Mostly we love you and love reading about what's going on in California especially the photos. Keep em coming and I'll try to maximize my 8 minutes with enough time to comment more often! :) Mandi

I don't comment a lot of the time because I am trying to speed through blogs to save time. I should be better though. I love comments too and I know I need to be better. I'm your other Colorado stalker:) Hope things are going well.

Oh, and about the names- Gracie wants to name the baby Strawberry shortcake. You can steal it if you want.

I try to comment most times when I read a blog, but sometimes I just can't come up with any more to say then, "looks like you are having fun" and that just seems to be not even worth the time or effort. I just need to be more creative. I must confess as well, oftentimes I check on blogs after I get out of the shower, I sneak onto my computer and my girls don't know I am around yet. If they here the keyboard keys going, they will come running and my peaceful time will come to an abrupt end (they will also want to "play" on the computer as well, just like Mommy)!

Hey Heidi! Comments are so fun and I need to be better. All of the blogs I read come into my google reader as well. I'm glad you guys are loving CA, Disneyland looked like a blast!

I love you for writing this. Don't we all think it sometimes? I too, have tried to make it a goal to be a "commenter." In real life and on the web. If I have a nice thought, like, "she looks cute today" or "I love that decoration," I should say it! It is the opposite of Thumper who said, "If you don't have somethin nice to say, don't say nothin at all." Well, I think that if I do have something nice to say, I should say it! I don't want to be someone who withholds my praise that could've made someone's day, or at least lifted their spirits.

Okay, now that's the theory, but do I live by it perfectly? Nope. Sorry. I'm still working on putting it into action. I do want comments (on blogs and in real-life) to be meaningful. I also don't want to seem like a real stalker. Too many comments might freak people out. But the biggest reason that I don't comment, is TIME. I already spend too much time on the computer and I'm usually just taking a quick peek. But I'm one of the people who loves your updates on this blog! Your cake looks delish and your Disneyland trip looks so dreamy! I'm glad you got to go!

In short, I'm with ya.
