Miss Maddie at Three Months

Baby Sis turned three months last week here are a few things.

DSC_0800

She is sweet, but very particular.

She loves watching Anna and the dogs, especially loves when Anna sings to her.

DSC_0784

She thinks her hands are the yummiest and always puts her thumb under her second finger.

Gets slap happy before bed and coos and giggles.

Gets frightened easily by sounds or large movements.

DSC_0701

HATES her car seat (is the next closest thing to a speedometer aka will calm down when we are driving fast).

Loves to be held outward, unless she is tired then she snuggles.

Loves to be swaddled and then rocked and patted on her back to sleep, usually goes out quickly.

DSC_0776

Is sleeping 6-7 hours at night, eats, then goes back to sleep for 3 hours, then eats then goes back to bed for an hour or 2.  It is a little crazy, but seems to work okay for her.

Not the greatest napper during the day because she LOVES to be held. held. held.

Is a quick eater, but will NOT take a bottle.

DSC_0700

Will not take a binky and gags when I try.

Laughs at faces on her toys.

Her neck is getting super strong, but not fully capable of holding it up.

Hates tummy time.

Thinks ceiling fans are hilarious.

Loves getting diaper changed.

Sneezes a lot and gets a stuffy nose a lot (perhaps allergies?), gags a lot.

LOVE THESE GIRLS!!!

2 weeks down…6 to go

No, not my weight loss plan, but our puppy adventure.  They are two weeks old as of yesterday.  It seems like each day takes forever, but the past two weeks have flown at the same time. It has been a LOT of work and more stressful than I imagined.  Mia gives of her milking services and will clean them up, BUT only after we MAKE her get in the pool with them.  It’s a little crazy.  Our Vet hasn’t ever met a dog like her. Prima Donna.  I love seeing the stages, but I am glad this is just a short term full time job.

It’s amazing how fast they have grown.  The were born all between 14 oz. and 1 lb. 4 oz.  Now they weigh between 2lbs 1 oz. and 2 lbs. 11 oz. They are all walking (wobbling) and have opened their eyes and ears (did you know they are born with closed ears… I didn’t). They are still squealing, but some are trying out little barks.  They have funny little personalities and are hilarious to watch-  that is what gets me through.

Here are some photos  of their changes.

“…it’s the funniest thing, EVER”

The other day I was sitting at Anna’s little princess table doing a craft with her and decided to put Maddie in one of her chairs.  Maddie loved sitting there with us and looked pretty comfortable.  (Despite the face below).

Then Anna pushed her chair under the table.  Maddie fit perfectly.  I was laughing so hard  (okay I still laughing) at how funny it was with her face looking forward and her little feet dangling.  I told Anna to go get Daddy to come see.  She walked in his room and said,  “Daddy, you have to come see… it is the funniest thing, EVER.” How could he turn down such an invitation?  This is what he saw.  ENJOY…

Anna also posed herself like this as told me to take a picture, how could I resist.  This is Anna and “brown baby.”

Rapunzel Cake

I forgot to post about Anna’s birthday cake, so here it is in all it’s not so perfect glory.

I wish I would have had more time to be the perfectionist that I am.  I had made the fondant earlier in the week, and I also made the frosting and the cake the day before.  So I thought I would have “plenty of time” to put it together. Ha!! with a newborn and wanting to spoil this three year old with attention, as well as clean the house, I was lucky I was able to do what I did. It turned out super yummy and it was cute, Anna was VERY happy and surprised.  Which always makes it all worth it.

Anna saw it as I first got the fondant on. She was

I filled the bowls with too much cake batter and they overflowed, Ha, that was a learning moment.  I also tried to make it a rainbow, but because of filling the bowls it kind of went everywhere. It was fun to cut into though.

Then the frosting was so cold and hard at first that I couldn’t get it on, as I waited for it to warm up it spread better, but it still pulled at the not so beautiful crumbly cake to begin with.

This was the moment I told her about the cake.  Then she kept saying, “can I touch it?”

I pulled it together quickly, piping like mad in the end, it felt a little like I was on a Food Network Challenge or something.  Anna loved how I put the hair up, she still does it with her doll every once in a while.  We love Rapunzel and all princesses, including these girls, around here!
