2 weeks down…6 to go

No, not my weight loss plan, but our puppy adventure.  They are two weeks old as of yesterday.  It seems like each day takes forever, but the past two weeks have flown at the same time. It has been a LOT of work and more stressful than I imagined.  Mia gives of her milking services and will clean them up, BUT only after we MAKE her get in the pool with them.  It’s a little crazy.  Our Vet hasn’t ever met a dog like her. Prima Donna.  I love seeing the stages, but I am glad this is just a short term full time job.

It’s amazing how fast they have grown.  The were born all between 14 oz. and 1 lb. 4 oz.  Now they weigh between 2lbs 1 oz. and 2 lbs. 11 oz. They are all walking (wobbling) and have opened their eyes and ears (did you know they are born with closed ears… I didn’t). They are still squealing, but some are trying out little barks.  They have funny little personalities and are hilarious to watch-  that is what gets me through.

Here are some photos  of their changes.

“…it’s the funniest thing, EVER”

The other day I was sitting at Anna’s little princess table doing a craft with her and decided to put Maddie in one of her chairs.  Maddie loved sitting there with us and looked pretty comfortable.  (Despite the face below).

Then Anna pushed her chair under the table.  Maddie fit perfectly.  I was laughing so hard  (okay I still laughing) at how funny it was with her face looking forward and her little feet dangling.  I told Anna to go get Daddy to come see.  She walked in his room and said,  “Daddy, you have to come see… it is the funniest thing, EVER.” How could he turn down such an invitation?  This is what he saw.  ENJOY…

Anna also posed herself like this as told me to take a picture, how could I resist.  This is Anna and “brown baby.”

Rapunzel Cake

I forgot to post about Anna’s birthday cake, so here it is in all it’s not so perfect glory.

I wish I would have had more time to be the perfectionist that I am.  I had made the fondant earlier in the week, and I also made the frosting and the cake the day before.  So I thought I would have “plenty of time” to put it together. Ha!! with a newborn and wanting to spoil this three year old with attention, as well as clean the house, I was lucky I was able to do what I did. It turned out super yummy and it was cute, Anna was VERY happy and surprised.  Which always makes it all worth it.

Anna saw it as I first got the fondant on. She was

I filled the bowls with too much cake batter and they overflowed, Ha, that was a learning moment.  I also tried to make it a rainbow, but because of filling the bowls it kind of went everywhere. It was fun to cut into though.

Then the frosting was so cold and hard at first that I couldn’t get it on, as I waited for it to warm up it spread better, but it still pulled at the not so beautiful crumbly cake to begin with.

This was the moment I told her about the cake.  Then she kept saying, “can I touch it?”

I pulled it together quickly, piping like mad in the end, it felt a little like I was on a Food Network Challenge or something.  Anna loved how I put the hair up, she still does it with her doll every once in a while.  We love Rapunzel and all princesses, including these girls, around here!

L.O.V.E. days … then and now

Past Valentines and Now. My how some things change and some stay the same….  (it’s fun to reminisce.)

1999- Even though we were dating, we went to the Valentines dance with different people, but within the same group. Just to keep things interesting, since we had only been dating a month and just went to the previous dance together.

2000- Dave surprised me with a blindfolded adventure in which we ended up at his house where he had set up a romantic dinner.  He had called my mom and made my favorite dinner.  The table had 4 bags of my favorite candy, conversation hearts.

2001-2002- Celebrated with packages and letters to and from Mexico

2003-Our first Valentines since Dave was home, I believe we went to Rodezio Grill.  Then we got engaged 2 weeks later!

2004-  Our first Married Valentines, we went to the Bjorklund’s cabin.  I got a random PiƱata, it was hilarious.

2006- Dave always finds gorgeous flowers and I was skinny once.

2007 – I spent it at home Alone while Dave gallivanted in Maui with his Brother, how romantic. Mia was born on Feb. 15th though we didn’t get her for another 6 weeks.

Black Sand Beach - Dave 2

2008- Anna was suppose to be born the next day, but she arrived 3 weeks early! I didn’t have many clothes that fit her at this point, but she looked cute in this pink sweater.

2009- Dave got me Roses and Anna three carnations.  We had a Valentines party at the Barbers and did old school Valentines boxes.  Ours was Michigan stadium, filled with little spectators (aka photos of our friends on tacks) and the Utah vs. Michigan line up! It was so fun.

2009- We had left over fondant from Anna’s birthday so we made a fun Valentines cake.  We cooked steaks and stayed home.  Then went out just the two of us another day.

2011- We have an almost 3 month old, 3 year old, 10 puppies who are 4 days old, 1 proud Mama dog, an exhausted Mother with a dirty house, and a 60+ hour a week working man who eats most of his meals at the hospital, plus we had to get a new washer and dryer which we picked up and installed tonight (it took almost 4 hours!).  SO, I decided to surprise Dave with dinner- our favorites: steak, twice baked potatoes  I had Anna eat while Dave was picking up the washer and dryer and Maddie went to bed so we could have a romantic dinner all to ourselves, with china and goblets! (:  It was simple but good.  I got a VERY meaningful card and of course my roses. 110214-163857110214-143748DSC_0666DSC_0686DSC_0679DSC_0688DSC_0680
